Should you apply as a first-year or a transfer student?
You are a first-year student if you have never attended a college or university after secondary school.
If you have attended a college or university, you are a transfer student.
We require transcripts from all high schools, colleges and universities that you've attended—both in the United States and abroad. If the transcript includes a grading scale, please make sure that's included as well.
For international first-year students, unofficial transcripts are acceptable during the application phase. However, official transcripts are required upon arrival at St. Thomas.
For international transfer students, official transcripts are required during the application process to allow for proper evaluation of your transfer credits.
International students are required to prove a minimum level of English proficiency to be admitted to St. Thomas.
Transfer students coming from a college or university in the U.S. are required to submit a Code of Conduct form about your disciplinary and behavioral history.
Please complete the top half of the form, then have your current or most recent institution complete the bottom half before submitting it to us. (To fill out the form electronically, please use the "Fill & Sign" option in Adobe Acrobat.)
How do you know if you're a transfer student?
- You are a transfer student if you have attended another college or university after secondary school.
- You are a first-year student if you have never attended a college or university after secondary school.
You're welcome to submit any of the following:
- a personal statement/essay
- letters of recommendation
- official (school code: 2102) or (school code: 6110) test scores
- your resume/CV
- any other materials you think will enhance your application
