Minnesota Postsecondary Child Care Grant

Eligibility

The Postsecondary Child Care Grant Program helps low income students who have young children pay for child care while the student attends classes. Assistance is available to students who are Minnesota residents (or whose spouses are MN residents) and have dependent child care expenses. Students who have children age 12 and under (age 14 and under if child has a disability) and demonstrate financial need and meet eligibility criteria as determined by the FAFSA may apply. The amount of funding available each year varies depending upon the amount allocated to the Â鶹´«Ã½ by the State of Minnesota. Recipients may not be receiving assistance from the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP).

The priority date for submitting a completed Postsecondary Child Care Grant Application is August 15 for the upcoming academic year. Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to fund recipients from the previous year.

Award Amounts

Eligible students may receive up to $6,500 per child per year to help pay for child care from the Minnesota Postsecondary Child Care Grant Program.
