General Business Management
The General Business Management major offers the greatest level of flexibility and customization. The curriculum has fewer required courses making it and excellent option to pair with a major or minor(s) from another department outside the Opus College of Business such as economics, environmental studies, or engineering. In addition to your major courses, you’ll also take interdisciplinary liberal arts courses in the throughout your four years.
Degree Awarded
Students who complete the coursework receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in General Business Management.

Eshan Varma
As a transfer student, St. Thomas and the Opus College of Business provided Eshan with numerous opportunities to grow in his professional and personal development. Some examples are participating in the Mayo Innovation Scholars Program, as well as being appointed to serve as the Director for Diversity Inclusion on the Undergraduate Business Council in order to foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. Eshan was also able to form mentorships with faculty and staff that ultimately led to opportunities with Thomson Reuters and further growth beyond the core major that Eshan pursue to explore parallel opportunities in data analytics, consulting, and research.
Luke Waldbillig
Luke studies higher education and student affairs at the graduate level. At St. Thomas, he paired his business major with a minor in education. His business courses helped him begin to think about how systems relate to one another and how to think strategically. He’s now using these skills to address the challenges facing higher education in his graduate studies.

The Opus College of Business awards this competitive scholarship to incoming students who intend to major in Business. Each year, up to four $10,000/year scholarships are awarded.

Learning Through Service: Business 200
We believe that businesses need to be socially responsible in the communities where they operate. All undergraduate business majors and minors are required to complete BUSN 200, a zero-credit, tuition-free course that includes 40 hours of community service and a series of reflective seminars. This service learning helps you grow into a highly principled global business professional, and an effective and ethical leader who’s prepared to make positive contributions in both your profession and community.
